Welcome
Tilburg University's library welcomes you to InfoSkills – a tutorial specially designed for first-year and pre-master’s students. This tutorial will help you develop essential information skills and introduce you to the effective use of the library’s resources.
What are information skills, and why are they important? While there are several definitions, information skills generally refer to the ability to identify what information is needed (for example, for a writing assignment), and to locate, evaluate, and use that information effectively.
The InfoSkills tutorial is divided into five modules, each with specific learning objectives, and includes a final test for students required to complete the tutorial as part of their program.
We strongly recommend that you follow the tutorial in chronological order, as the modules are interconnected and build upon each other. The estimated time to complete the tutorial and final test is three to four hours.
InfoSkills will remain available as a reference resource throughout your studies.
The library offers a wide range of study spaces, an extensive collection of books and journals, and friendly staff to support you with your information needs.
The library has extended opening hours, remaining accessible in the evenings and on weekends.
It’s an excellent environment for collaboration, focused study, or working on your paper or thesis!
