About the library databases

Why use other databases besides WorldCat Discovery?

When you're looking for books, WCD definitely is your best choice. For journal articles it's a different story. WCD provides access to many articles, but not to every article the library owns or has access to online. This is why you should definitely use other databases, too.

200+ library databases at your disposal

The TiU library has more than 150 databases you can use to access the sources you need to support your research. A library database can:

  • cover a wide range of subject areas (e.g., the Web of Science, ScienceDirect);
  • be subject focused (e.g. PsycINFO, Sociological Abstracts, EconLit);
  • include specific types of sources, such as:
    • scholarly articles
    • professional/trade articles
    • newspaper articles
    • statistical and financial data
    • business information
    • working papers
    • legislation
    • images
    • multimedia
