1. ProQuest

What is ProQuest?

ProQuest isn’t actually a single database – it’s a platform that provides access to many different databases. You can access ProQuest through the A-Z Database list.

Basic Search

The ProQuest homepage opens with the Basic Search. To select specific database(s) to search, click the Change Databases tab.

This will take you to the Select Databases page (shown below), which lists all ProQuest databases available through the TiU library. Here, you can choose the databases you’d like to search. Each ProQuest database can also be accessed directly via the A-Z Databases list.

Search tips

  • Limiting your search
    • Select one of the buttons above the search box to limit your search to a particular type of content (such as scholarly journals).
    • Tick the Peer reviewed checkbox to limit your search to research that has been evaluated by experts in the field to ensure quality.
    • Do NOT tick the Full text checkbox! If a publication isn’t available in full text in ProQuest, it may still be accessible through the library system.
  • How your search is processed in ProQuest
ProQuest will retrieve documents containing all your search terms, appearing in any field (document titles, authors, subjects, full text, etc.). For example, a search on healthy eating is the same as a search for healthy AND eating. The search will not retrieve results with just the word healthy or just the word eating.
