About the library databases

Why use other databases besides WorldCat Discovery?

When searching for books, WorldCat Discovery is definitely your best option. However, when it comes to journal articles, the situation is different. WorldCat Discovery provides access to many articles but does not include every article the library holds in print or online. That’s why it’s important to also use other databases.

240+ library databases at your disposal

The TiU library offers access to more than 240 databases, which are essential tools to help you find the exact sources you need for your course assignments. These databases can:

  • Cover a broad range of subject areas (e.g., the Web of Science, ScienceDirect);
  • Focus on a specific discipline (e.g., PsycINFO, Sociological Abstracts, EconLit);
  • Include a variety of source types, such as:
    • Scholarly articles
    • Professional/trade articles
    • Newspaper articles
    • Statistical and financial data
    • Business information
    • Working papers
    • Legislation
    • Images
    • Multimedia
