Nieuwe A-Z database lijst in beta

Nu beschikbaar: de bètaversie van onze nieuwe A-Z databaselijst. Deze vervangt onze huidige lijst in augustus 2025.

De bibliotheek biedt een overzicht van alle bibliotheekdatabases, met beschrijvingen en links voor toegang. De huidige lijst, ook bekend als Libsearch, wordt vervangen door een nieuwe dienst, beschikbaar op ons LibGuides-platform. Deze post legt uit wat je van deze verandering kunt verwachten.

Het huidige overzicht van onze databases heeft jarenlang goed dienst gedaan, maar de applicatie waarop het draait is inmiddels nogal gedateerd. Vanaf augustus gebruiken we alleen nog het LibGuides platform om de databases te presenteren. In deze eerste fase vind je alle informatie uit de oude versie, maar op een iets andere manier gepresenteerd. Naarmate er nieuwe functies beschikbaar komen passen we waar nodig ook de presentatie aan.

Tot augustus zijn zowel de oude als de nieuwe lijst tegelijkertijd beschikbaar en bijgewerkt, zodat je kunt wennen aan de verschillen tussen de twee diensten.

Lijst van databanken

De nieuwe A-Z Databases-pagina bestaat uit verschillende belangrijke onderdelen.  

Gebruik het alfabet bovenaan de lijst om de lijst met databases snel te beperken op de eerste letter van de titel.

1. Zoeken naar woorden die voorkomen in titels of beschrijvingen van databases.
2. Filter de databases op onderwerpen, bijvoorbeeld accounting of anthropology. 
3. Filter de databases op type inhoud, bijvoorbeeld journal articles of books.
4. Filter de databases op leveranciersnaam, bijvoorbeeld Springer Nature of Tilburg University.

Er zijn speciale hulppagina's voor deze nieuwe lijst, met meer gedetailleerde informatie over de beschikbare secties en opties.

Widgets

Aan de rechterkant van de pagina vind je verschillende handige widgets. Hier kun je een lijst met nieuwe databases bekijken, de databases beperken tot specifieke collecties of doorklikken naar onze pagina met encyclopedieën en woordenboeken. Er is ook een zoekvak om te zoeken in ons catalogus- en zoeksysteem, WorldCat Discovery, evenals in onze online tijdschriften. Daarnaast kun je zoeken naar specifieke tijdschriftartikelen op basis van DOI.  De sectie Helpful Links bevat diverse nuttige links, waaronder een link naar je eigen bibliotheekaccount.

De pagina toevoegen aan je favorieten

Je kunt de URL voor de nieuwe site toevoegen aan je favorieten of bookmarks. De korte URL https://go.uvt.nl/libsearch (die je mogelijk eerder hebt gebruikt als onderdeel van onze Library Essentials Kit) gaat verwijzen naar de nieuwe lijst zodra we de oude service uitschakelen.

We stellen feedback over de nieuwe service op prijs. Een link naar een anoniem feedbackformulier is te vinden op de hoofdpagina.

New A-Z database list in beta

Now available: the beta version of our new A-Z database list. This will replace our current list in August 2025.

The library provides a listing of all library databases, with descriptions and links for access. The current listing, also known as Libsearch, will be replaced by a new listing, offered on our LibGuides platform. This post explains what you can expect from this change.

The current overview of our databases has served us well for many years, but the application it runs on is rather dated. Starting in August we will only use the LibGuides platform to list the databases. In this first stage, the listing has several features that resemble the old version but presented in a different way. As new features become available, the listing may change over time.

Until August, both the old and new list are available and updated simultaneously, so you can get used to the differences between the two services. 

Database list

The new A-Z Databases page is made up of several important sections. 

1. Use the alphabet at the top of the list to quickly limit the list of databases by first letter of title.
2. Search for words appearing in database titles or descriptions.
3. Filter the databases by subjects, e.g. accounting or anthropology. 
4. Filter the databases by type of content, e.g. journal articles or books.
5. Filter the databases by vendor name, e.g. Springer Nature or Tilburg University.

There are dedicated help pages for this new listing, with more detailed information about the available sections and options.

Widgets

On the right side of the page, you will notice several useful widgets. You can see a list of new databases, limit the databases to specific collections, or go to our encyclopedias and dictionaries. There is also a search box to search our catalog and discovery system, WorldCat Discovery, as well as our online journals, and you look for specific journal articles by DOI.  The Helpful Links section has assorted useful links, including a link to your library account.

Bookmarking the page

You can bookmark the URL for the new site as listed above. The short URL https://go.uvt.nl/libsearch (which you may have bookmarked as part of our Library Essentials Kit) will point to the new list once we turn off the old service.
