During the month of October 2021, Tilburg University Library has arranged trial access to Policy Commons. This is your chance to find out if it is interesting and useful for you!

What is Policy Commons?

Policy Commons is a content platform, a repository and harvesting service for fact-based research from the world’s leading policy experts, nonpartisan think tanks, IGOs, NGOs and research institutes. Policy content is presented as a body of literature and offers access to more than 2.4 million documents from over 21,000 organizations: curated, high quality policy reports, blogposts, briefs, analyses, working papers, articles, and datasets. Policy Commons’ content comes only from vetted sources and is curated by its editors and community. It excludes ‘fake news’, duplicates, and low grade teaser content.

Policy Commons also provides an archive function for small or no longer existing organizations, so that reports are still accessible. They keep copies of orphan content, and make sure that links stay current. Permanent identifiers prevent link rot and make LibGuides, syllabi, and course packs durable.

Some examples of the organizations that are covered in Policy Commons are the Council of Europe,World Health Organization, World Bank Group, European Parliamentary Research Service, Amnesty International, National Bureau of Economic Research, British Sociological Association, Environmental Law Institute, and the Economic Policy Institute

In the image below you will recognize the logos of several organizations.

Who will benefit from this database?

This database is of interest for policy makers and academics across all disciplines of Tilburg University. It’s for anyone working in those areas in which government is involved: social issues, education, health care, demography, trade, etc. It also helps you to find grey literature and reports from NGO’s.

Subjects

Policy commons provides detailed and current content across the entire policy spectrum: law, regulation, crime, education, healthcare, sustainable development, agriculture, energy, pharma, diversity, food fairness, etc. Also the topics that matter right now are covered e.g. COVID-19, Black Lives Matter, climate change, Brexit and gender equality.

You will find a long list of topics here: https://policycommons.net/topics/
