Academic reading: Introduction

In this module, you will learn what it takes to become a better reader. While previous modules focused more on skills and strategies that you can use while you’re completing reading tasks such as those for your studies, this module will concentrate on what you can do to become a better, faster and more efficient reader overall.

By the end of this module, you will be able to...

• read more fluently through the use of a range of activities;
• independently expand your passive vocabulary in order to facilitate a faster and better understanding of texts;
• motivate yourself to read more for pleasure;
• select an appropriate time and environment for reading.
