Much has been written about finding reliable publishers of open access journals to avoid falling into the trap of predatory publishers. Unfortunately, unreliable open access book publishers also exist.

Think.Check.Submit. helps researchers identify trusted journals for their research. It also offers a checklist for authors wishing to verify the reliability and trustworthiness of a book or monograph publisher. Check out the books and chapters checklist here

The OAPEN open access books toolkit is another free-to-access resource that aims to help academic book authors to better understand open access book publishing, and to promote and increase trust in open access books. The toolkit has been organized according to a typical research lifecycle which consists of eight stages for the purpose of this toolkit. A comprehensive FAQ provides additional information.

Are you a Tilburg University employee and considering publishing an open access book? If so, please take a look at the Open Press TiU website. Open Press TiU is the Open Access publishing house for Tilburg University and beyond. The Open Access Books program allows authors to publish open access single- or co-authored books, edited collections, journals and individual chapters.
