In the week of October 2, Tilburg University is drawing attention to (online) security & privacy with interesting activities for researchers, employees and students. It is the latest edition of the annual Tilburg University Privacy & Security Awareness Week and this year's theme is "Nothing to hide?".
Digitalization and data sharing have become essential to our lives. This creates opportunities, but also challenges, such as the need for cybersecurity and careful handling of personal information and data. Tilburg University is committed to Privacy & Security and encourages employees and students to be 'caring'; protect yourself and each other by handling data with care. Are you aware of what is happening with your data? Do you really have nothing to hide? Test it during the Privacy & Security Awareness Week.
On Monday 2 October, the Research Data Office is organizing a webinar 'Information Security' for researchers on how to safely handle your research data. Miranda van der Ploeg (Information Security Officer) will be the guest speaker during the webinar.
In today's digital landscape, ensuring the protection and integrity of your research data is of great importance. During the webinar, the core concepts of information security will be explored and practical insights to enhance your data protection practices will be offered. What are secure apps, tools and software that you can use in your research? What are best practices for safely collecting, storing and transferring data throughout your research process? In addition to answering these (and other) questions, the webinar will also feature tips and tricks for safely working from home.
For scientists and research support employees. This webinar is organized by the Research Data Office in cooperation with Tilburg University Privacy & Security Office

Do you believe that your online presence is as transparent as a freshly cleaned window? Well, think again, and learn how to properly preserve your privacy in the digital age. You might have heard people say, "I don't care if I get hacked, I have nothing to hide online anyway." During this symposium will show you why that's a bit like saying, "I don't mind if I leave my front door wide open; I have nothing to steal!" The truth is that there are many risks that come with a casual attitude towards online privacy and security. We're talking about identity theft, AI's growing influence, and the sneaky ways big tech companies use your data to make big money. Knowing this, what's still stopping people from safeguarding their online activities effectively? During this interactive symposium, three renowned guest speakers, Prof. dr. Bert-Jaap Koops, Dr. Joanna Strycharz, and Dr. Nicole Huijts will try to answer this and other related questions from different academic perspectives (Law, Communication and Psychology). This symposium is organized by Studium Generale in cooperation with Tilburg University Privacy & Security Office.
For students, scientists, and employees. After the symposium there will be an optional drink at Grand Café Esplanade..
Time: 15:45-17:30 hrs. Location The Black Box (ground floor of the Esplanade building)
