Rocío Fernandez Barrero is our new LIS Research Support colleague. She introduces herself in this blog post.

Introduction

Last September, I happily started at the Research Support team of the University Library, as the new Manager (Functioneel Beheerder) of the Research Data systems.
This includes for example Tilburg University instances for DataverseNL and SURF Research Drive. I take care that everything runs smoothly in said environments, and that we as a university are up to date with the latest developments that these services can offer for handling data according to policy and to FAIR principles.
As such, I am also part of the Research Data Office (RDO), supporting researchers in the processes of organizing, storing, and sharing their research data.

Background

I am originally from Spain, but I have been living, studying, and working abroad already for eight years. In The Netherlands, I have previously worked as an Early-Stage Researcher in the field of (developmental) neuroscience at Radboud University, and as an Application Specialist in an innovative Dutch company which develops neuroimaging research equipment.

Some personal bits

In my free time I am an avid reader, and I try to take every opportunity to enjoy the sunshine. I also greatly enjoy travelling and discovering the world, especially when it becomes challenging to catch the sun in The Netherlands (unfortunately often!).

Contact

I am grateful that I can continue my professional path by doing what I find most rewarding: supporting and facilitating quality research, and I look forward to doing so together with my new colleagues at Tilburg University!
If you have any questions or feedback, please do not hesitate to reach me at m.d.r.fernandezbarrero@tilburguniversity.edu or at researchdataoffice@uvt.nl
