The university library welcomes you to InfoSkills, a tutorial intended for first-year Public Governance students of the Tilburg Law School. The tutorial has been designed to help you master basic information skills and get you started with using the library.
Note that some parts of this tutorial are in Dutch, namely those regarding specific Dutch (legal and goverment) databases.
But what are information skills and why do you need them? There are multiple definitions of information skills, but ultimately it’s about being able to recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate and effectively & ethically use the needed information.
InfoSkills is divided into five modules, each with its own set of learning objectives, along with a final test for students who must complete InfoSkills as part of their program.
We strongly recommend that you go through the tutorial chronologically since the different parts are connected and build on one another. Estimated time for the tutorial and the test to be completed is three to four hours.
The InfoSkills tutorial will remain available as a reference work throughout your study.
Tilburg University's library offers a variety of study places, a large collection of books & journals, and friendly staff to help you with your information needs.
The library's opening hours are extensive, including evenings and weekends.
It's a great place to collaborate, study, and write your research papers!
