Mijn naam is Nicole Broeders-Goos en ik ben al ruim 30 jaar werkzaam bij Tilburg University. Ik ben begonnen bij de toemalige acquisitie-afdeling van de bibliotheek en via diverse andere functies begin 2002 begonnen als licentiemanager, tegenwoordig contractmanager, voor de bibliotheek van Tilburg University.
In deze functie zorg ik er onder andere voor dat alle medewerkers en studenten online toegang krijgen en houden tot de wetenschappelijke content die voor het onderwijs en onderzoek van Tilburg University van belang is. Dat doe ik natuurlijk niet alleen, maar samen met mijn collega’s van het Research Support (RS) team en de collega’s van het back-office team van Library. De collega’s binnen het RS team waar ik veel mee samenwerk zijn de collectie- en informatiespecialisten en de functioneel beheerders van het bibliotheek systeem. Bij de collega’s van het backoffice team van de Library werk ik samen met de collega’s die de digitale collectie beheren.
Onder online informatie verstaan wij in ieder geval: online tijdschriften, eBooks, databases en allerlei andere soorten data (bv financiële, business cases, etc).
Mijn voornaamste taak is het contact met uitgevers en andere leveranciers die voor de bibliotheek van belang zijn. Ik onderhandel bijvoorbeeld over de prijs en voorwaarden om toegang te krijgen tot de content die de uitgever beschikbaar stelt. Ik probeer hierbij altijd tegen zo gunstig mogelijke prijs en voorwaarden de toegang te regelen.
Daarnaast verzamel ik de gebruiksinformatie (usage statistics) van alle bronnen waar wij een abonnement op hebben. Dat zijn er op dit moment ongeveer 230.
Ik kan mijn werk niet doen zonder de inbreng van de collectie- en informatiespecialisten. Op basis van hun vraag en expertise treed ik in onderhandeling met uitgevers en eventueel andere leveranciers van (online) informatie. Soms krijg ik een vraag van een onderzoeker om te ondersteunen bij het afsluiten van een licentie bij een leverancier van data. Dat doe ik dan graag.
Ik woon in Dongen en fiets bijna dagelijks naar de campus, wel op een e-bike. Mijn grootste hobby is lezen; ik ben een enorme fan van Agatha Christie. Afgelopen zomer hebben mijn man en ik bijna alle plaatsen bezocht waar zij ooit gewoond en gewerkt heeft. En ja misschien raad je het al…. mijn favoriete vakantieland is… Engeland.

My name is Nicole Broeders-Goos and I have been with Tilburg University for over 30 years. I started at the former acquisition department of the library and through various other positions I started in 2002 as license manager, now contract manager, for the library of Tilburg University.
In this position, among other things, I make sure that all staff and students have and maintain online access to the academic content that is important for the education and research of Tilburg University. Of course I do not do this alone, but together with my colleagues from the Research Support (RS) team and the colleagues from the Library back-office team. The colleagues within the RS team with whom I work a lot are the subject librarians and the functional administrators of the library system. Among the colleagues on the Library back-office team, I work with the colleagues who manage the digital collection.
By online information we mean at least: online journals, eBooks, databases and all kinds of other data (e.g. financials, business cases, etc).
My main task is contacting publishers and other suppliers of interest to the library. For example, I negotiate the price and conditions to get access to the content made available by the publisher. In doing so, I always try to arrange access at the most favorable price and terms.
I also collect usage statistics for all the sources we have subscribed to. There are currently about 230 of them.
I cannot do my work without the input of the subject librarians. Based on their requests and expertise, I enter into negotiations with publishers and possibly other suppliers of (online) information. Sometimes I am asked by a researcher to assist in obtaining a license from a data supplier. I am happy to do so.
I live in Dongen and cycle to campus almost every day, though on an e-bike. My biggest hobby is reading; I am a huge fan of Agatha Christie. Last summer my husband and I visited almost all the places where she once lived and worked. And yes maybe you guessed it.... my favorite vacation country is...England.
