New LIS Research Support colleague: Olaf van Amelsvoort

Since February 2023, Olaf van Amelsvoort is our new LIS Research Support colleague. He introduces himself in this post.

Per 1 februari ben ik de nieuwe collectie- en informatiespecialist voor Theologie. Je kunt bij mij terecht

• met al je vragen over onze bibliotheek en collecties;
• voor ondersteuning bij het zoeken naar wetenschappelijke informatie;
• met aanschafverzoeken voor boeken, tijdschriften en databases;
• en voor informatie over auteursrechten en open access publiceren.

Ook kan ik een rol spelen in de bevordering van informatievaardigheden van studenten en medewerkers.

Achtergrond
We hebben een grote collectie aan digitale en gedrukte tijdschriften en boeken, waaronder ook heel wat bijzondere collecties, zoals oude drukken en religieus erfgoed. Daar ben ik al jaren goed mee bekend vanwege mijn andere functie als coördinator van het BackOffice-team van de bibliotheek, vanuit mijn periode als theologiestudent, jaren geleden, en eindredacteur van diverse religiewetenschappelijke uitgaven.

Ik wandel graag, ga regelmatig naar het theater en drink ook graag met vrienden een lekker biertje in de kroeg. Ik hou van cryptogrammen en quizzen, en ook voor mijn werk ga ik een goeie puzzel niet zomaar uit de weg.

Ik zie uit naar een fijne samenwerking met de Bibliotheek Advies Commissie en heb er alle vertrouwen in dat we onze theologische bibliotheek fysiek en digitaal op hoog niveau bij de tijd houden.

As of February 1, I am the new subject librarian for Theology. You can contact me

• with all your questions about our library and collections;
• for support in searching scholarly information;
• with acquisition suggestions for books, journals and databases;
• and for information on copyright and open access publishing.

I can also play a role in promoting information literacy among students and staff.

Background
We have a large collection of digital and print journals and books, including many special collections, such as old prints and religious heritage. I have been well acquainted with all of this for many years because of my other position as coordinator of the library's BackOffice team, from my time as a theology student, years ago, and final editor of several religious studies publications.

I enjoy an occasional walk, going to the theater and having a beer with friends in the pub. I love cryptograms and quizzes, and for my work I don't shy away from a good puzzle either.
