Introducing Lotte Wilms as new Head LIS Research Support

LIS Research Support had to look for a new head of its team after Hylke Annema found another job. We are very happy to have found Lotte Wilms for this position! Lotte started mid-April and we have asked her to introduce herself to you all.

Hi! My name is Lotte Wilms and I’m very happy to have joined Tilburg University as the new head of LIS Research Support. Unfortunately I’ve only been to campus twice so far, but I feel very lucky to be able to work in such a wonderful and inspiring community.

Before joining Tilburg, I worked at the KB National Library of the Netherlands where I was a Senior Advisor Digital Scholarship. I managed the KB Lab and the Researcher-in-residence programme. If you are an early career researcher with an interest in the digital collections of the KB I can highly recommend applying to the programme! In this role I worked with many researchers from a wide variety of disciplines on projects that built on the digital collections of the KB.

Next to that, I am also active in the international library world through the European Association for Research Libraries (LIBER) where I set up and chair a working group around Digital Humanities and Digital Cultural Heritage. The large survey we did in this WG feeds into my PhD research on the changing role of libraries since the digitization of primary sources which I do as an external PhD student at Maastricht University.

I live in Zwijndrecht with my partner and our two kids (5 and 7), but my roots lie in Zuidoost-Brabant and I have lived in Utrecht for six years while studying (plus an Erasmus period in Reykjavik). One of my favorite things to do is go to theme parks, especially now that our kids are tall enough to ride (some) roller coasters. Hopefully we’ll be able to do that safely again soon. I also love baking and – perhaps a bit obvious for someone working in a library – reading.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or want to work together!
